Sculptra Aesthetic is made of lactic acid molecules. The technical name is Poly-L Lactic acid or PLLA. The body makes lactic acid naturally during exercise and then breaks it down into carbon dioxide and water. Sculptra Aesthetic is made synthetically in the laboratory utilizing simple sugars derived from organic wheat and corn. In your body sculptra particles break down into carbon dioxide and water, the body responds with the formation of type I collagen to plump up the skin. This process has been extensively studied and confirmed with microscopic tissue examination. For this reason, Sculptra Aesthetic is not just a simple ‘wrinkle filler ’, but a true volumizer directing your own body to produce collagen—a process called biostimulation. PLLA has been widely used for over 35 years in the United States in dissolvable sutures and implants. Therefore, its safety and compatibility with the human body is well established. When placed at appropriate strategic locations, significant youthful changes can be achieved.
PRP and PRF are natural products created from your own body. A small amount of blood is drawn from you and placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is slightly different in the preparation process and seems to be even more effective than PRP
Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells. The PRP and PRF, injected into specific areas of the skin, acts as a matrix that promotes your own collagen to grow, regenerate tissue, and thus act as to naturally smooth and tighten the skin. In this way, PRP softens wrinkles and creates smoother skin texture and tone.
PRP has a long history of being used in orthopedic medicine, dentistry and reconstructive surgery, and now its benefits are being applied to other fields of medicine such as dermatology, skin wound healing, and cosmetic facial rejuvenation. Scientific studies dating back 30 years have documented that PRP grows new collagen when injected into the skin, and newer studies show that PRP can soften sun damage and aging skin issues.
PlasmaSculpt , Dr Rajani’s combination of these two stimulators into one procedure, is applied to targeted regions of the face through fine needles and cannulas. In some areas of the face PRP and Sculptra are combined into concentrated doses and in other areas the concentrations are reduced to increase safety and effect.
Most important is the mixing concentrations, depths and strategic placement for a safe and effective outcome.
The visible effects may begin subtly as early as 2 weeks but more reliably at 2 months. Then, over the subsequent 3 – 6 months, final results are obtained . Many people may be happy with just one session but three treatment sessions are generally recommended, spaced 1-2 months apart, to achieve the best outcome. This depends on the quality of the existing skin, tissue laxity and surrounding bone loss.
